Horse breeding

Horses in semi-freedom: balance and tradition

Responsible livestock farming integrated into the natural landscape

At the Steppe Bird Breeding Center, we don’t just take care of winged species. We also have a small but significant herd of horses, raised in semi-freedom and in complete harmony with the environment.

This activity complements our ecological work, helping to maintain the steppe ecosystem and providing a comprehensive view of natural space management.

Respectful breeding in controlled freedom

Our horses live in large open areas, with enough space to move around, graze, and socialize in optimal conditions. Raised without stress and with minimal handling, they develop strong, balanced, and healthy.

We are committed to responsible breeding, where the animal’s quality of life is a priority. This model allows us to obtain rustic, noble, and functional horses, adapted to the environment and to various livestock or recreational uses.

The presence of horses on our land is not only part of our livestock activity, but also a tool for environmental management. These animals act as natural regulators of vegetation, helping to control the growth of invasive species, reduce the risk of fires, and keep areas open that are necessary for steppe birds.

Their role is twofold: breeding animals and silent guardians of ecological balance.
